The first thing to consider is your experience/skill level. Are you just starting out on your open-air adventures, or are you a seasoned rider who’s looking for a new, high-quality ride? If you’re a beginner, choose a bike with a smaller engine, such as the single-cylinder BMW G 310, the C 400 Urban Mobility scooter, or the C 600 maxi-scooter. On the other end of the power spectrum, you’ll find the BMW S 1000 RR superbike, BMW M 1000 RR, and the BMW R 1300 Adventure.
What type of riding will you be doing? If your bike is used mainly for commuting, check out the BMW F 900 R, the BMW G 310 GS, and the BMW R 1250 RS. If taking long journeys on the open highway is more your style, take a look at the BMW R 1250 GS, the BMW K 1600 GTL, and the BMW K 1600 Grand America. A couple of other things come into play when choosing a motorcycle. Will you be riding with a passenger? The BMW R 1250 RT is comfortable, easy to handle, and has the suspension to take on the extra weight. A very important consideration is your budget. New bikes are costlier than used bikes. You also have to maintain your bike, so service and repair costs are something to add to the picture.
